Biography

Marc L. Bailin, has been engaged in the practice of entertainment, media, corporate and real estate law in New York and California for thirty-eight years.

Marc is also Co-Founder and Partner of W Financial Fund, L.P., a bridge-lender to the commercial real estate industry with in excess of $250,000,000 under management. (www.w-fund.com)

As an accomplished entertainment attorney, Marc’s clients have included celebrities such as actress Meg Ryan, Oscar winning actress Julianne Moore,  actor/musician L.L. Cool J., playwright Richard Greenberg (“Take Me Out”) and many others. Marc served as General Counsel and line production counsel to Pangolin Pictures, Inc., the award winning documentary television production house. Marc also served as General Counsel to Lancit Media Entertainment Ltd., the Emmy award winning producer of the “Reading Rainbow” series and was Lancit’s legal advisor in connection with the production of “Ramona Q”, a co-production of Lancit Media Productions, Atlantis Films (Canada) and Revcom Television (France).

Marc also served as the line-production attorney for the “Reading Rainbow” Children’s Television Series for the entire fifteen year history of the Series’ run on the PBS television network and also served as Lancit Media’s line-production attorney on “The Puzzle Place”, the highly acclaimed PBS pre-school series co-produced with KCET-Los Angeles. Marc has also served as the Executive in Charge of Production for the “Callanetics” series of videocassettes released by MCA Home Video, all of which videos have been accorded “Platinum” sales status and have been ranked number one by Billboard magazine, a leading industry publication. Marc has also represented significant licensing, publishing and media related activities for the widely syndicated cartoonist, Gary Larson (“The Far Side”).

Authors and books represented by Marc include Gary Larson (“There’s A Hair In My Dirt: A Worm’s Story” – Harper Collins; LI. Cool J. (“I Make My Own Rules” – St. Martins Press; Cappy Capossella and Sheila Warnock (“Share the Care” – Simon & Schuster; and Epicenter Communications (“Sarajevo” and “The Mission” – Warner Books). Marc currently acts as agent for E.R. Braithwaite, author of “To Sir With Love” and many other works.

Marc has also acted as agent/representative for a number of network news producers on programs including “Dateline” (NBC), “The Early Show with Bryant Gumble” (CBS), “Good Morning America” (ABC) and Court TV Network.

Marc also served as Plaintiff’s Expert Witness in Peggy Lee v. The Walt Disney Company (the so-called “Lady And The Tramp Case”) resulting in a multi-million dollar jury verdict for the Plaintiff.

He has also served as the Executive Producer and line production attorney of a series of action oriented feature films, including “Hangmen” (with Sandra Bullock), “Covert Action”, “Blue Vengeance”, “Mob War”, “Shock Troop” (with Danny Aiello), “Comrades In Arms” (with Lance Henriksen and Lyle Alzado), “The Outfit” (with Billy Drago, Lance Henriksen and Martin Kove), “Backfire” (with Kathy Ireland and Robert Mitchum) and “A Modern Affair” (with Lisa Eichorn and Stanley Tucci). Marc is also a member of the Advisory Board of Share The Caregiving, Inc.( www.sharethecare.org ) an organization devoted to assisting people in forming support groups to assist in the care of the terminally ill. Since 2000, he has also been a member of the Board of Directors of New York City Industries for the Blind, Inc., (www.nycib.org), a not-for-profit manufacturing facility dedicated to providing employment to blind and partially sighted workers and since 2013 has served on the Board of Directors of Alphapointe (www.alphapointe.org).
